Livre de la Chasse, by Gaston Fébus

Of the hare and its nature - 24v

Back

The hares in this bucolic tableau, despite their tawny colour and long ears, have a plump morphology reminiscent of rabbits. Nevertheless, the female in the centre of the pasture sown with shrubs has only two kindles – this is often the way for hares, but not for rabbits, whose fertility is well-known.
