Our illustrated desk calendar this year is dedicated to The Hours of Jean de Montauban, a charming illuminated manuscript from the 15th c. that will fill your desk with original miniatures.

This year’s calendar runs from March 2022 to February 2023 and it is inspired by the fascinating illustrations of the Adam and Eve cycle in The Hours of Jean de Montauban, a codex from c. 1430-1440 currently preserved in the Bibliothèque des Champs Libres / Rennes Métropole (Ms 1834).

It is one of the most original and fascinating works of Breton manuscript illumination: beginning with the very first folio, readers are immediately enraptured by its vivid colours embellished with gold and its iconography. Among its miniatures, some scenes more typical of profane and apocryphal books stand out, as well as the omnipresence of the devil.

This beautifully illustrated calendar will originally decorate any corner and become a window into the Middle Ages, thanks to our selection of 24 illustrations from this unique medieval artwork.
