Seated upon a marble ground in the foreground is Our Lady with the Child on her lap. The naked Christ is held by his mother in a liturgical cloth as a sign of respect. Flanking the pair, worshipping them on their knees with their hands joined, are St Joseph and St Anne. Behind them are St Anne´s two daughters, Our Lady´s sisters.
