The Apocalypse of 1313

The Apocalypse of 1313 f. 52r, The seventh bowl (Revelation 16: 17-18)

f. 52r, The seventh bowl (Revelation 16: 17-18)

The seventh angel emerging from the clouds on the left empties his bowl in the air whilst the blessing Christ on the right leans through the door of the heavenly Temple, unrolling a phylactery to evoke the voice proclaiming, “It is done!” The divine verdict unleashes roaring thunder. Flames shoot from the clouds like lightning striking the earth whilst the earth is warped by an earthquake more violent than any ever seen since mankind appeared on earth. Roofs are blown away and walls collapse upon the inhabitants of a town, lying in heaps mortally wounded by the impact of the stones. The commentator deems them to be the last, albeit terrible, backlashes of the Antichrist’s power.
