Acanthus (Branca ursina): Grows in places with water and has smaller leaves than lettuce. Combats spleen complaints and burns, and moves the bowels.

Betony (Betonica): Betony protects a man’s body and soul, hence it is called sometimes called heal-all. To combat vomiting and pain in the chest, take one and a half drams of betony powder in five measures of water on an empty stomach.

Wood sorrel (Alleluya): The wood sorrel eases all limbs, eliminates humours and removes pain caused by nerves. It grows everywhere, particularly alongside fences and at the foot of walls.
